ACCESS TO WORK ADHD COACHING

Access to Work is a government grant scheme that provides practical tools and support to help people get into or stay in work. One of the support tools available via Access to Work funding for people with ADHD is ADHD

work-based Coaching.

WHAT IS ACCESS TO WORK ADHD COACHING AND WHO IS IT FOR?

Access to work ADHD coaching can help support you to be more successful at work in multiple ways.  Here are a few examples of the typical topics we can cover in Access to Work ADHD Coaching Sessions.

What Access to Work ADHD Coaching can help you with:

  • PLANNING & PRIORITISING YOUR WORK: When all tasks feel as important as each other its hard to make a decision on what to work on first

 â€‹

  • GETTING STARTED ON IMPORTANT TASKS: Its easy for people with ADHD to complete urgent tasks but without urgency we need tools and techniques to get started

  • FOCUSING ON ONE TASK AT A TIME: When the initial excitement of a task disappears, finding ways to keep going

  • MANAGING YOUR TIME: Many people with ADHD may be overly optimistic with time, have time pass very quickly or just find it hard to estimate how long things will take accurately.

  • BUILDING A ROUTINE & STRUCTURE: Whether you are employed or working for yourself, ADHD coaching can help you build tools, strategies and ways of working to help you get the right things done on time.

  • IMPROVING YOUR WORK RELATIONSHIPS: Having ADHD can make feedback difficult, it can also make you very aware of negativity around you, which can impact your performance.

  • ADVOCATING FOR YOUR NEEDS AT WORK: Identifying and requesting the right accommodations and adjustments that help make your day to day better at work.

  • Depending on the grant funding awarded, sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly at first with some people opting to move to monthly when they need less support.

  • My Access to Work ADHD Coaching fees are £120 per 1-hour session inc. VAT.

  • Access to Work grant funding can be split into sessions for any length between 30 minutes to 2 hours. Most of my clients prefer coaching sessions that last for 1 hour.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you give me a quote to send to Access to Work?

Yes I can. First you'll need to book in a coaching discovery call. During our discovery call we will discuss the support you need and changes you are looking to make in order to create a bespoke plan for you and give us an idea of how many sessions to dedicate to those needs. If you already have an award and just need to give a quote for a specific number of sessions, my Access to Work rate is £120 per hour.

How many sessions will I get?

That depends on need. In my experience people who have received Access to Work awards for ADHD Coaching are typically awarded between 12 and 24 hours. This may be worth discussing with your allocated Access to Work assessor for more complete information, but based on the people I have coached this is a typical award. And the grant funding is usually available for 12 months – so the sessions need to be completed within 12 months of the award being granted.

Do you accept Access to Work Funding for ADHD Coaching?

Yes I do. In order to claim the ADHD coaching must focus on helping you at work. If you have your funding approved in principle, and you need a quote from me, set up a discovery call for ADHD work-based Coaching, and we can discuss your needs. You can find out more about Access to Work funding, and how to claim it for ADHD Coaching on the government website.

How long does it take for an Access to Work application to be approved?

An Access to Work grant application typically takes between 3 - 6 months following submission to be considered. This can vary with demand, so the sooner you submit your application in the better.

Can I get any other help from the Access to Work scheme?

Yes. There are other practical tools and help from support workers that you may also be eligible for which you can discuss with your caseworker. Some examples of these other are noise cancelling headphones, voice to text software or if you are self-employed additional help such as a virtual assistant.

How do I make a claim for my grant money?

Once you have been awarded an Access to Work grant, you can make a claim against it. You can only submit a claim once the ADHD Coaching sessions have happened. You cannot back date a claim to pay for sessions that have happened before your grant is awarded. The easiest way to submit your claim (in my opinion) is to claim online, and the first time you claim usually takes a bit longer.

I have another question that hasn't been covered.

No problem. Send me an email with your question, and I'll answer it for you, or if you'd rather book a discovery call to ask as many questions as you can fit in an hour!
