ADHD COACHING

Whether you're looking for ADHD Coaching to get your personal life in order, or you need work based ADHD Coaching to set you up for success in your job or business, this page will explain what ADHD Coaching is, how it can help and the ADHD Coaching services I offer.

WHAT IS ADHD COACHING AND WHO IS IT FOR?

ADHD coaching can help support you in multiple ways, here is a list of ways you might benefit from ADHD Coaching:

What ADHD Coaching can help you with:

  • SELF CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM: Have you blamed yourself for problems you've had attached to your ADHD symptoms and labelled yourself as "not good enough," "lazy," or "just not trying hard enough" ?? ADHD Coaching can help you get clear on who you really are: your strengths, values and your unique gifts.

  • GETTING THINGS DONE: ADHD impacts your brain's Executive Functioning skills.  Thomas E Brown describes them as: Activation, Focus, Effort, Emotion, Memory & Action. ADHD Coaching can help you understand which of these are impacting your day to day life most, and create on tools and strategies to overcome the challenges they present.

  • FOCUSING ON ONE TASK AT A TIME: Do you find it hard to work out where to start and get so distracted that you rarely complete things? ADHD Coaching can help you make time to plan, create your priorities and remove likely distractions before you start.

  • REMOVING SELF LIMITING BELIEFS: Over time we create stories about what is possible for us. ADHD Coaching can help by removing old beliefs or stories that are getting in your way and exchanging them for more relevant positive alternatives.

  • BEING MORE SUCCESSFUL AT WORK: Whether you are employed or working for yourself, ADHD coaching can help you build tools, strategies and ways of working to help you get your job done and feel more successful day to day.

WHAT IS ADHD?

  • 80-90% of our brain functioning is automatic, meaning we don't have to think about it. The other 10-20% uses our Executive Functions, and it is here where people with ADHD brains experience more day-to-day challenges than neuro-typical brains.

  • The NHS website describes ADHD as: "Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people's behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse."

  • And typical symptoms of ADHD in adults include problems with:

    • organisation and time management

    • following instructions

    • focusing and completing tasks

    • coping with stress

    • feeling restless or impatient

    • impulsiveness and risk taking

  • Other people have described ADHD like having a Porsche for a brain with bicycle brakes.

  • If you can relate to these symptoms and are wondering if you may also have ADHD, take a look at this adult ADHD symptom checker from Additude Magazine which can help indicate whether you may have the condition.

  • Aside from the neurobiological differences in ADHD brains, the symptoms most likely to be recognised in people with ADHD are problems with their Executive Functioning skills.

MY ADHD STORY SO FAR

I’ve always been a bit of a personal development junkie. One look at my bookshelves will confirm that. I’m always looking for that grain of knowledge that I can use myself or share with others to help them understand what’s going on.

But it hasn't always been like that. I started my adult life as a uni drop out, a party girl, needing a job to fund my social life, so I joined a big company on a 2 week temp contract. Two weeks turned into a few years spent “catching up” by gaining experience and completing marketing qualifications, and I moved to to the Big Smoke looking for more opportunity.

Eager to learn and gaining experience in many areas of business, I climbed the typical ladder and started managing a team. At that time, in order to be a "good manager" you were expected to deploy command & control tactics, using a carrot or stick to cajole people into doing work, and I didn’t really feel like I could conform to that - or that it was at all necessary.

Even though I have been in constant research mode, pretty much since I could read, I had never really learnt about ADHD and how it shows up. I just had the image of a "naughty boy who couldn't sit still" in my head of what ADHD was. Little did I know!!!

When I saw the list of symptoms of ADHD in women on the Additude magazine website, I found myself saying, yes, yes, yes, yes to each and everyone.

I could NOT believe that it had taken me 40 years to discover this uniqueness of my brain, which may have been significantly contributing to my experience of life to date.

So this is why I'm here.

If it took ME (the most inquisitive person in the world) 40 years to find this out, I know there must be plenty more people in the same situation blaming and shaming themselves every day.

So I've made it my mission to learn everything I need to know about ADHD and ADHD Coaching so I can make it easier for myself and anyone I get to serve through ADHD Coaching.

With the hope that I can help others avoid feeling like an outsider or a fake or fraud for a moment longer than they had to.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I find out more?

Before I start any ADHD coaching package, we'll have a chat, so I can tell you more, answer any questions you have and get to know you and your expectations.  To arrange a free coaching discovery call, follow this link and choose a good time to talk. After the initial call, and you're ready to go ahead I'll send you a contract and an invoice for payment.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes. I offer monthly payment plans on my 6, 12 or 18 hour packages. The programme cost will be divided into an upfront deposit and monthly payments. If you are interested in a payment plan, just let me know.

Do you accept Access to Work Funding for ADHD Coaching?

Yes I do. Depending on the amount you are awarded, you can choose one of my hourly packages, or we can create something bespoke. In order to claim the ADHD coaching must focus on helping you at work. If you have your funding approved in principle, and you need a quote from me, set up a discovery call for ADHD work-based Coaching, and we can discuss your needs. You can find out more about Access to Work funding, and how to claim it for ADHD Coaching on the government website.

I have another question that hasn't been covered.

No problem. Send me an email with your question, and I'll answer it for you, or if you'd rather book a discovery call to ask as many questions as you can fit in an hour!
